I live in a Semifinal city. Does that mean I can sign up directly into the Semifinals?
Yes it does! The Semifinals will be a combination of Qualifier Winners from other cities, as well as local competitors. Read more about Competitor Signups, Winners & Benefits here.

To encourage local signups, USAG will be emailing signup information to previous competitors and interested locals of that city. So when you see that email come in, make sure you sign up before spots are gone!

What if I miss signups in my Semifinal city and/or I still want to sign up for a Qualifier?
You can sign up for any Qualifier across the country. Note that if you qualify for the Semifinals, you will be routed to that Qualifier’s corresponding Semifinal city, regardless of your hometown. USAG cannot guarantee a routing preference to Qualifier Winners.

Can I sign up for both a Qualifier AND a Semifinal?
Yes you can! However if you qualify for the Semifinals from the Qualifier, USAG will remove your Semifinal spot and announce an opening on the USAG blog/FB for anyone to claim on a first come/first serve basis. In this case you will NOT be refunded the Semifinal entry fee for winning a Qualifier. All sales are final.

I’m signed up for a Qualifier and a Semifinal. What if I win a Qualifier that routes to a different Semifinal than I signed up for?
The night you place 1st or 2nd in your Qualifier, you will need to confirm which Semifinal (of the two you are eligible for) you would like to compete in. If you choose to compete in the Semifinal you have qualified for, USAG will remove your other Semifinal spot and announce an opening on the USAG blog/FB for anyone to claim on a first come/first serve basis. As a Qualifier winner, you will receive the benefits as defined here.

If you choose to compete in the Semifinal you registered for, you will forfeit your Qualifier win and all of its benefits. The 2nd place finisher of the Qualifier will inherit your travel stipend. The 3rd place finisher will inherit the 2nd place travel stipend and will take your place in the routed Semifinal. You will then compete in the signed up Semifinal as a local competitor.

Can I sign up for multiple Qualifiers or Semifinals?
You can sign up for as many Qualifiers as you like. You may sign up for ONE Semifinals when they are initially announced. If competitor spots are still available one week before the first Semifinal, they will be open to anyone to take on a first come, first served basis.

Can I win multiple Qualifiers or qualify for multiple Semifinals?
No. If you have signed up for multiple Qualifiers, you may not qualify for Semifinals more than once. This means that if you have placed 1st or 2nd in a Qualifier, you may not actively compete in subsequent Qualifiers.

However – if you have placed 2nd in a Qualifier, but would like to try and place 1st in a subsequent Qualifier, you may actively compete if you forfeit your previous Qualifier win and all of its benefits. In this case, the 3rd place finisher of the Qualifier you forfeit will inherit the 2nd place travel stipend and will take your place in the routed Semifinal.

I want to host a Qualifier near a Semifinal city. Is this allowed?
We ask that the Qualifier and Semi shows not be within 120 miles of one another, unless certain financial guarantees are made to ensure the success of both shows. If your desired Qualifier is within the 120 mile radius and you’d still like to host it, please contact contact@usairguitar.com to discuss the details.

If I host a Qualifier, does that mean I get to compete in the Semifinals?
Yes! If you host an officially licensed USAG Qualifier, you get an automatic slot into the Semifinal your city routes to. You also get order picking benefits! If you choose NOT to compete in the Semifinals, you may offer your spot to another co-organizer. You may NOT offer your spot to competitors.

If the Qualifier is co-hosted by two or more organizers, the organizers must choose one person to move on. Only ONE host per Qualifier may move on to the Semifinals.

If you or any co-organizers choose NOT to compete, your slot will be added to the local Semifinal signups. If local slots had previously been full, USAG will announce an open slot on a first come-first serve basis.

How many competitors qualify for the Semifinals?
The top two (2) competitors from each Qualifier will qualify for the Semifinals. Read more about Competitor Signups, Winners & Benefits here.

How many competitors qualify for the National Finals?
The top three (3) competitors from each Semifinal will qualify for the National Finals, as well as winning competitors from the Dark Horse (total Dark Horse competitors TBD). Read more about Competitor Signups, Winners & Benefits here.

How will the competitor picking order work this year?
Read about the Competitor Picking Order here.

I have points from winning USAG events in the past. Are points still being used this year?
This issue was discussed at the 2015 Town Hall Meeting during Nationals weekend and as a result, the point system is no longer in use for competitor picking order. Read more about the Competitor Picking Order here.

I came in first place in my city and/or my Semifinal. Do I get any benefits?
Yes you do! If you came in 1st place in your Qualifier/Semifinal last year, you get to pick the exact number in which you would like to compete in the city that you won. You also will receive a promo code for FREE ENTRY to one Qualifier/Semifinal this year (depending on what level you won at last year).

Certain rules and exceptions can be reviewed in the Competitor Picking Order and the Competitor Signups, Winners & Benefits.

When will Semifinals be announced?
We are actively working on locations and venues for Semifinals and hope to have them confirmed soon.

Where are Nationals this year?
We are working on this relationship as well. Qualifiers and Semifinals are the priority, so hang tight until we get those under way and we’ll hopefully have a Nationals announcement soon after.
